Tell Him you meant it
Prayer is just talking to a Father who is already listening. Say it plainly, out loud if you can. Tell Him what you have done, tell Him you want to follow Him, and thank Him for taking it from you.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins. 1 John 1:9
Read the Gospel of John
Start with John rather than at the beginning of the Bible. It is one book, twenty one short chapters, written so that you would believe. A chapter a day gets you through it in three weeks.
Open John 1Tell one other person
Saying it out loud to someone makes it real, and it gives you one person who can ask you how it is going. It does not have to be a speech. Two sentences will do.
Find other believers
You were not built to do this alone, and a faith kept private tends to fade. Find a church that teaches the Bible plainly and go twice before you decide anything about it.
Be baptised
Baptism is how the first believers said publicly what had happened to them privately. Ask the church you land in about it. You do not have to be good enough first.
What if I do not feel any different?
Some people feel something. Most do not. Feelings come and go, and they were never the proof. What holds is what He did on the cross, and that does not depend on how you feel this morning.
Keep going for a month. Read, pray, show up. Then look back at who you were before and see what has changed.
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion. Philippians 1:6
